PRIVACY POLICY

Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (hereinafter referred to as “AITC-C”) is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy, as well as developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Privacy Policy applies to AITC-C's mobile application (hereinafter referred to as “App”), Kareero, and governs data collection and usage. By downloading and using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

The purpose of this privacy policy is to explain to you in the clearest terms what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it. If there are any terms in this policy that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of the App immediately and contact AITC-C at info@aitc-canada.ca.

Personal Information Collected

AITC-C collects personal information that you provide when you register on the App, such as your email address, whether you’re a student, teacher, or agriculture industry member, grade(s) you teach (if applicable), whether you live in Canada or not, province/territory, city/town, and school. AITC-C also collects anonymous demographic information, not unique to you, such as your preferences, interests and favorites.

There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by AITC-C. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is used by AITC-C for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the App.

Use of Personal Information

AITC-C uses your personal information collected via our App for a variety of purposes as described below. We indicate specific processing grounds we rely on next to each purpose listed.

AITC-C uses the information we collect or receive:

Sharing Personal Information

AITC-C may share data with trusted partners, such as the App development company, to help us perform statistical analysis or provide customer support. All third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to AITC-C, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

AITC-C will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on AITC-C or the App; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of AITC-C; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of AITC-C, or the public.

Personal Information Storage

We will only keep your information for as long as its necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose in this policy will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period in which users have an account with us.

When we have no ongoing legitimate organizational need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information or, if this is not possible (ie, because the information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Use of Cookies

The AITC Canada Web site use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize AITC Canada pages, or register with AITC Canada site or services, a cookie helps AITC Canada to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same AITC Canada Web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the AITC Canada features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the AITC Canada services or Web sites you visit.

Safety and Security of Personal Information

AITC-C secures the personal information you provide on mobile devices and computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure

We have implemented technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security, and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although AITC-C will do its best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our App is at your own risk. You should only access the App within a secure environment.

Changes to this Policy

AITC-C will occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect company and user feedback. AITC-C encourages you to periodically review this Policy to be informed of how AITC-C is protecting your information.
